An annual tradition during Commencement Weekend, the Baccalaureate Mass is a celebration for the entire Seattle University community to give thanks for our graduating students and to offer a blessing as they complete their time at Seattle U. It marks their transition into the future as leaders for a just and humane world.

As a Jesuit Catholic university, this celebration takes place within the context of the Mass. People of all religious, spiritual, and secular identities are warmly welcome to attend and participate.

Graduating students, their families and friends, current students, faculty, staff, and alumni are all invited to join us.

Date & Time: Saturday, June 13, 2026 at 2:00 p.m.

Location: St. James Cathedral (804 9th Avenue)

Get Involved

Members of the Seattle University community are invited to participate in the liturgy:

  • Baccalaureate Mass Choir: Open to students, faculty, staff, and alumni. No prior singing experience is required—music is accessible, and the time commitment is minimal.
  • Liturgical Ministers: Opportunities include readers, ushers, candle bearers, gift bearers, and communion ministers.

Sign-up forms and additional details (including rehearsal schedules and ministry information) are available on the Commencement website.
