Join us for an introduction to synthesis – a fancy word for making weird sounds using electronics.

We will explore a vintage 1968 ElectroComp 200 and learn how to build a sound wave from the master oscillator through the VOCs, and then form the sound envelope. If you don’t know what any of those words mean – no problem, that’s what this workshop is for!

We will review key terms, learn the components of the machine, and build our own patches (sounds) by connecting cables. We will also record our patch diagrams on custom cards.

This is going to be fun – and will give you a greater understanding of what is happening behind the scenes when you use contemporary synthesizers.
