The United Nations established International Day of Yoga (June 21) to honor yoga’s ancient roots in India and its global health advantages. This free class will include a yoga session and discussion on the benefits of yoga, highlighting yoga's holistic benefits and its transformative power for well-being.
About the Instructor:
Shephali has a JD and an MPH from George Washington University and is a certified meditation, yoga and leadership instructor with over 2,000 hours of training and 15 years of teaching experience with the Art of Living Foundation. She cultivated a meditation practice in law school, which ultimately became the basis of her work and passion. Shephali has been a leader in community development over the years. While running the Art of Living yoga and meditation center in New York City she developed a strength in working with people of all nationalities, backgrounds and religious traditions. Currently located in the Pacific Northwest, she has worked with Seattle Community Parks and Recreation, the Department of Corrections, the Seattle Public Library and other community groups to provide tools from yoga for stress relief and fostering peace from within.

This event is part of India Culture Week - a vibrant, multi-day celebration of Indian culture sponsored by the Consulate General of India, Seattle in partnership with the Office of Global Engagement and Roundglass India Center that explores art, yoga, dance, food, handicrafts, and many other exciting aspects of contemporary India all from the comfort of Seattle University's campus.
