“Rise of the Governors: Navigating contrasts, chaos and the Constitution”

Seattle University’s Department of Public Affairs and Nonprofit Leadership presents a discussion with our new governor, Gov. Bob Ferguson, Thursday, April 3, 1:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.

Among other topics, Ferguson will talk about how states like Washington are managing a rapidly-changing relationship with the federal government. How to prepare for a summer of potential wildfires with a declining federal workforce? How to protect life-and-death medical research at our universities? How to keep our Northwest energy grid safe? How to prepare for tariffs that cause chaos for businesses and government?

Ferguson, like many other governors, finds himself in a delicate balancing act: “We will work with the Trump administration where we can and stand up to him when we must,” he says.

Our interview-style program will be led by journalist Joni Balter, Seattle University lecturer and professional-in-residence, along with student Andres Recart Restovic, City of Seattle Mayor's Fellow and candidate for a Masters in Public Administration at Seattle University,

Free and open to the public! No ticket required. Register to receive reminder emails.

The event will be in Pigott Auditorium. Seattle Channel will tape and produce a TV version of the show.
