Ramona Bennett Bill shares her new memoir, “Fighting for the Puyallup Tribe.” This event celebrates Native American Indian Heritage month by highlighting one of the most prominent activists for Native American Indigenous rights in Washington state history. Ramona was instrumental in organizing the Puyallup Tribe, the fishing rights, reclaiming Ft. Lawton, the federal Indian Child Welfare Act and more. Her story provides a comprehensive account of some of these landmark achievements for the rights of Native people. Ramona understands and shares her view that people of all identities and backgrounds deserve to be treated with dignity, and that by coming together for common goals we can accomplish more than if we stand alone in our separate communities.
