Catherine Liu is a Professor of Film and Media Studies at the University of California, Irvine and the author of Virtue Hoarders: The Case Against the Professional Managerial Class.  She is a Critical Theorist of the old-fashioned kind and is engaged in a long-term critique of professional managerial class driven liberal politics.  Her lecture will explore the history of liberal "awareness" of child welfare and how its politics instrumentalized concern for the most vulnerable among us as a weapon of bourgeois and professional class stuggle against economic analysis and policies of redistribution.
