DESCRIPTION:Washington’s Green Future Is in Your Hands: Among many impact
 ful decisions facing Washington voters this November is the question of wh
 ether to approve I-2117 and thereby undo Washington’s new cap-and-invest
  system launched last year. The program is designed to help the state meet
  its goals of reducing greenhouse gas emissions.\n\n \n\nPlease join us fo
 r this important\, interview-style program on Thursday\, Oct. 10 at 4 p.m.
  in Pigott Auditorium on the Seattle University campus. Part of the Depart
 ment of Public Affairs and Nonprofit Leadership ongoing Conversations seri
 es\, this is currently the only statewide debate on this topic open to the
  public.\n\n \n\nProponents of the initiative argue that the cap-and-trade
  program is a money grab that doesn’t work and helps make Washington one
  of the most expensive places to live. They believe their initiative will 
 reduce gas prices and other costs. Climate Commitment Act (CCA) supporters
  say the world has limited time to cut greenhouse gasses and that this law
  makes Washington a leader in sound\, market-based\, carbon-reduction poli
 cies.\n\n \n\nSeattle University’s Department of Public Affairs and Nonp
 rofit Leadership is pleased to announce our featured guests are Brian Heyw
 ood\, the initiative sponsor\, and former state Sen. Reuven Carlyle\, auth
 or of the CCA.\n\n \n\nSeattle University Professional-in Residence Joni B
 alter\, veteran journalist\, will moderate the debate and ask questions wi
 th Seattle University Senior Sophia Hampton\, double major in environmenta
 l studies and public affairs.\n\n \n\nOur program will be produced and tel
 evised by Seattle Channel and TVW.\n\n \n\n*Registration is not required b
 ut it does help us prepare by knowing our guest count.\n\n \n\nTransportat
 ion and Parking\n\nWe encourage public transportation!\n\nThere are multip
 le bus lines that drop off near Seattle Univeristy including Route 2 and 1
 2.\n\nThe Sreetcar drops off right next to SU and the Capitol Hill Link st
 ation is a 10 minute walk.\n\nPaid parking is available in P3/Broadway Gar
 age. There is both paid and non-paid parking on 12th Ave and 13th Ave.\n\n
