Mangisalakan: Barrio Fiesta 2026
About this Event
914 E Jefferson St, Seattle, WA 98122
#BarrioFiesta2026Barrio Fiesta is the United Filipino Club’s annual student-led cultural showcase. Since 1995, Barrio Fiesta has been an event for Filipino-American students at Seattle University to connect with their roots through dance, skits, food, and more. This event is now one of the biggest cultural events on campus.
The United Filipino Club at Seattle University will be hosting our 32nd annual Barrio Fiesta on March 7th, 2026. This year, our theme is “Mangisalakan” which roughly translates to “a saving light from harm or oppression.” In the midst of an evolving world, we want to honor those in our community who have fought for the rights and values that we have taken for granted. By emphasizing the “saving light” against harm and oppression, we are reaffirming our commitment to bayanihan (collective action), pagkakaloob (sacrifice & selflessness), and the resilience of our Filipino culture. Through Barrio, we are able to honor and share our heritage with members of our community through endless expressions of love and commemoration.
