  you to the annual Drs. Luth M. and Narciso P. Tenorio Endowed Lectureship
 \, featuring journalist and author Julia Hotz\, whose book “The Connecti
 on Cure—The Prescriptive Power of Movement\, Nature\, Art\, Service\, an
 d Belonging\,” was the first to chronicle the science and stories of soc
 ial prescribing.\n\n \n\nAround the world\, health care professionals are 
 expanding what it means to treat a patient. Instead of solely pharmaceutic
 al prescriptions\, they are offering "social prescriptions"—referrals to
  non-clinical\, community-based activities and resources like painting cla
 sses and dance lessons.\n\n \n\nThis lecture introduces the principles and
  practice of social prescribing\, tracing its origins in the United Kingdo
 m and exploring its growing relevance for health systems in the United Sta
 tes. Learn about the evidence behind social prescribing and the role diver
 se health professions can play to integrate this model into American healt
 h care\, as well as the importance of rather than asking “What's the mat
 ter with you?” the importance of asking “What matters to you?”\n\n \
